Schnerch is an author on a mission. His writings is his way of providing a street level awareness of mental illness and addiction.

His knowledge of the subject is substantial for he experienced it himself for decades. He is accustomed to the medical system, government policies and the social impact these conditions have on our society.

Schnerch uses his personal experiences in this book as an example of what people with these conditions go through and why it is so debilitating. This is an inside look of a fractured mind.

The Peaceful Warrior: Memoirs of a Damaged Mind and Soul is a collection of broken thoughts and memories conceived during episodes of depression, mania, disassociation and psychosis.

The book is very enlightening for it describes these illnesses in a rare and intense manner. This is not a conventional publication and neither is the author. It is brutally honest, forceful and poignant.

Enlightening as it is, it is also mentally taxing on the reader. This is an example of the inner workings of insanity. This is the closest you will get to losing your mind while being sane.
